PHILOSOPHY

At Linnton Community Center, helping each child develop to his or her fullest potential is our first priority. We believe every child needs and deserves a safe, secure and stimulating environment.

Our curriculum is based on the whole child, his/her social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development. We see each child as a unique individual and create our program according to the child's strengths, needs, interests and developmental skills.

We believe in fostering cultural awareness and pride through an anti-biased curriculum and activities. We believe this desired environment is accomplished through a positive approach to learning with well educated, skilled teachers. We believe that quality child care includes communicating and working with the whole family through education, support and parent involvement. We strive to keep our services available and affordable to all families.

STAFF

Every teacher is highly qualified and experienced. We are committed to providing staff development opportunities throughout the year. Our Staff Development Days help teachers and staff keep current on the most recent developments in education, thereby ensuring that your child receives the best care and education. You will not find a center with a more passionately committed staff.

FEES

We believe every person is a gift to this earth and each deserves quality care. Many parents work very hard every day but simply do not make enough to pay for child care. Some are unable to get a job that pays above minimum wage, others are in pursuit of job training, education or other programs that lead to financial stability and well-being.

Linnton Community Center will not and has never turned any child away. We have always offered a sliding scale fee to all, based on parents income. In the beginning we were only able to do this because of the generosity of the people of the Linnton community and surrounding industries. It was not easy.

We continued to follow best and proven practices and constantly striving to improve. Through this we gained our state certification as a child care center. In our push toward excellence we recently gained a partnership with Neighborhood House. Neighborhood House has given us recognition, training  and approval as an official "Head Start" Center. The child care center is working toward N.A.E.Y.C accredidation. This costly process is being funded by a grant from the the "Childrens Initiative" tax levy. Linnton Community Center is now also able to accept the Oregon Department of Human Service child care tuition reimbursements. DHS support is vital to many of our families. Because Linnton Community Center has cared for many children at no cost to their parents while the parents were receiving job training these same parents now hold good paying jobs, volunteer at the community center and pay full fees for child care.

Our affordable tuition structure is an essential component of our service - without it many of our families simply could not afford child care.

OPEN DOOR POLICY

Parents are invited to visit their child's program any time during the day. Parents also have the right to see licensing documentation, such as current staff criminal history checks, first aid & CPR, CCD, sanitation, and fire marshal reports.
