PHILOSOPHY
At Linnton Community Center, helping each child develop to his or her fullest potential is our first priority. We believe every child needs and deserves a safe, secure and stimulating environment.
Our curriculum is based on the whole child, his/her social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development. We see each child as a unique individual and create our program according to the child's strengths, needs, interests and developmental skills.
We believe in fostering cultural awareness and pride through an anti-biased curriculum and activities. We believe this desired environment is accomplished through a positive approach to learning with well educated, skilled teachers. We believe that quality child care includes communicating and working with the whole family through education, support and parent involvement. We strive to keep our services available and affordable to all families.
STAFF
Our Teacher's are highly qualified and experienced. We are committed to providing staff development opportunities throughout the year. Our Staff Development Days help teachers and staff keep current on the most recent developments in education, thereby ensuring that your child receives the best care and education. You will not find a center with a more passionately committed staff.
FEES
We believe every person is a gift to this earth and each deserves quality care. Many parents work very hard every day but simply do not make enough to pay for child care. Some are unable to get a job that pays above minimum wage, others are in pursuit of job training, education or other programs that lead to financial stability and well-being.
Linnton Community Center will not and has never turned any child away due to the families inability to pay. We have always offered a sliding scale fee to all, based on parents income. In the beginning we were only able to do this because of the generosity of the people of the Linnton community and surrounding industries.
We continue to follow best and proven practices and are constantly striving to improve. Through this we gained "state certification" as a child care center. The child care and preschool are continuing to work toward National Association for the Education of Young Children (N.A.E.Y.C) accreditation. This process is costly & can take years to gain. Because of this centers are few and far between. Linnton Community Center is now also able to accept the Oregon Department of Human Service (D.H.S.) child care tuition reimbursements. D.H.S support is vital to many of our families. Because Linnton Community Center has cared for many children at no cost to their parents while the parents were receiving job training these same parents now hold good paying jobs, volunteer at the community center and pay full fees for child care.
Our affordable tuition structure is an essential component of our service - without it many of our families simply could not afford child care.
OPEN DOOR POLICY
Parents are encouraged and invited to visit their child's program any time during the day. Parents also have the right to see all licensing documentation including current staff & volunteer criminal history background checks, State Health Department sanitation inspection and State Fire Marshal inspection reports. All of our staff and volunteers have current state food handlers cards & are certified in child, infant & adult CPR & First Aid.
THE PROGRAM
The preschool
program offers an outstanding preschool education and full day childcare.
Morning preschool is bilingual. One teacher is a native Spanish speaker the other speaks English to the children. We have a state of the art
preschool and childcare room.
WHY SPANISH IMMERSION AT THIS YOUNG AGE?
The world economy is becoming “global” and the ability to
speak other languages has become increasingly important. Preschool age
children’s brains are in a stage of development that enables them to quickly
learn new languages. Immersing children in a foreign language program has
proven highly successful and popular. Children that are exposed to second languages between the ages of three to six and continue with the second language in school will as adults be able to speak their second languages without an American accent.
WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT
Preschool room air is constantly filtered through an electronic air filtration system
The entire building is monitored by a state of the art security system with audio in the preschool room
Rather than regular incandescent lighting we use "full spectrum" fluorescent lighting. This type of lighting has shown to enhance children's learning and gives many of the benefits of natural sunshine
One way observation window available at parents request this helps when children have difficulty separating
Full gymnasium
large playground with garden area
and much more.....
