The Linnton Community Center Summer fun Program has been an integral part of this tight knit community since its opening in 1927.  In some form or another children and teens have been enjoying their summer vacations under the caring and watchful eye of the LCC.

This summer will be no different than summers past.  We have an action packed summer planned.  Full of exploring, swimming, sports and more, our camp will attempt to redefine what fun is all about.  Nestled in the northernmost neighborhood of Portland we are minutes away from Sauvie island and right across from Forest Park making out door exploration an every day occurrence.

Our camp is a theme based camp divided up into one week and two week blocks.  Each block is individually focused however; the camp has overarching themes as well.  Such as environmental stewardship, organic gardening, cooking, cultural exploration, survival skills, swimming, fishing, hiking, and exploring the natural world that surrounds us.

Each day we embark on a field trip, never needing to travel more than a few miles to get out doors in some truly amazing spaces.

Our camp is conveniently structured for working parents.  We have three separate but congruent programs extending the day from 7am to 6pm.  The programs are the breakfast club (7:00-10:30), Portland Explorers (10:30am-2:30pm), and the afternoon reading club (2:30pm- 6:00pm). Children may participate in one, two, or all of the daily programs.

Dear Parents:

It is imperative that children arrive at LCC prepared for all the activities that are planned on a given day.  When children are sent with the proper attire and equipment we can maximize every ones fun.  Here is a list of the essentials that each child must have; a swimsuit (life jacket if applicable), towel, shoes suitable for hiking, sun screen or other appropriate sun blocking apparel and a change of clothes.  If any of these items are not available to your family please let us know with as much notice as humanly possible so we can attempt to find the necessary things for your child.  We do not want any child to be disappointed by his or her inability to participate in an activity due to improper dress or equipment.

We will also be participating in the summer reading program.  Please send your child with a library card so that they may enjoy this great public service.

Thanks,
